School Council

School Council Update 2018

Already this year’s newly appointed school council have been hard at work. The first job on the agenda was to create the schools mission statement, the team took on this opportunity to show a great understanding of what the schools mean to them as students of Brentwood school and college.

The students have also met with the new chair of Governors, they shown great knowledge of what it means to be part of Brentwood school and college. The Council welcomed and answered all questions fired at them with enthusiasm and didn’t hold back when it was their turn to fire lots questions back.

The next big task the school council have to look forward in the future, will be to join members of schools councils from schools within our local community to discuss the best ways to use a grant within our local area.

A little bit about us!

Our School Council is made up of an elected representative from each class / department. The elections are held in the autumn term and follow hotly fought husting when the candidates present their ideas and give reasons why their peers should vote for them.

Posters are to be found at this time displayed all around the school putting forward reasons why particular pupils would make a good representative. Ideas range from the types of food that should be served in the canteen to suggestions about modifications to bathrooms to make them more accessible to all.

The school council formally meet every month; have been involved in several important initiatives during the past few years including helping the governing body to interview for the Head teacher.

The whole school community are very proud of our school council. You can see who is on the School Council and their plans by looking at their notice board in the school entrance.
